The inspiration behind Homemade was aroused through my passion for interior design and a personal need for a change. We have had numerous wonderful holidays to Cornwall, which have certainly contributed to how Homemade has turned out today. But what really put everything into perspective was a family trip to New England where we travelled from Canada through Vermont and up and around Cape Cod via Boston. The scenery and architecture I saw on this trip was simply beautiful, as everything in my mind slotted into place my empty embroidered note book soon became packed with ideas.
I wanted to create a shop which was different from anything else I have seen and combined everything my family knows and loves. I have a passion for sewing and crafts, which is why our shop, Homemade in Nantwich holds a weekly ‘Knit and Natter’ every Wednesday morning where anyone can come along to literally knit and natter! Monday evenings host Stitching School where young and old come to Homemade and ask me for any help or advice on their current stitching projects or even on what they should do next! Every week I hold a different craft course ranging from dress making and intermediate crochet to creating a mini embroidered garden. People are enjoying it and so am I - that's all that matters. Most of all I feel that I am giving something back to the local community.
For Homemade I have found some of the most fabulous gifts, but going with the ethos of Homemade I have made a few myself including some beautiful vintage style aprons.
And it’s not just aprons that are homemade. Every day we bake fresh cupcakes in a variety of flavours with their very own quirky name such as, Chocywocky, Lemon Drop, Rose Petal, Strawberries and Cream and Coffee Concoction, all made with the very ingredients that you would find in your local market. Flour, butter, free range eggs, castor sugar, milk that’s it! We have designed the shop in a way which allows customers to clearly see us baking the delicious cupcakes in homely surroundings. The wooden spoon, kitchen aid, Belfast sink, it’s all there.
Why not try your hand at pottery painting or book one of our fabulous children's parties!
I hope you love it as much as I do.
